Marikina Coffee Guides

Is There a 24-Hour Cafe in Marikina?

Short answer first, because you are probably asking at 11 p.m. with a deadline: we have not found an independent Marikina cafe that is documented as open a full 24 hours. What the city does have is a good handful of shops that stay open well past midnight, and for most late-night study sessions that is enough. Here is how late each one goes, according to the information we hold for it.

Is any Marikina cafe open around the clock?

The closest we know of is Grind Cafe & Restaurant in Concepcion Uno. It bills itself as the only cafe in Marikina open almost around the clock, running from the morning until the small hours, with a full restaurant menu next to the coffee. Almost is the important word there. If you need a seat at 5 a.m., message the shop first rather than assuming.

Which Marikina cafes stay open the latest?

Malaya; Cafe in Concepcion Uno stays open past midnight and runs until around 3 a.m. on weekends. It opened in 2024 as a late-night, work-friendly spot for students and remote workers, which is exactly the crowd asking this question. Café Rajah in Parang is open into the early morning, around 2 a.m. on weeknights, and is popular for late study and hangout sessions. Match Better Cafe also closes at about 2 a.m.

Which ones close at around midnight or 1 a.m.?

There is a second group for nights when you only need a few extra hours. Old Habit Cafe on West Drive in Marikina Heights stays open until 1 a.m., and Quad Coffee in Concepcion Dos runs from early afternoon until 1 a.m. Calle Roxas in Calumpang and Lungo Café in Sto. Niño both run from the afternoon to midnight. Our list of Marikina coffee shops that are open late keeps the full set in one place.

Which late-night shop suits which kind of night?

They are not interchangeable, so match the shop to the plan. For a laptop session, Malaya; Cafe is the obvious pick, with its outlet-heavy space and its books and board games for breaks. If you need a proper meal at midnight, Grind runs a full restaurant menu and Lungo Café serves rice meals, pasta and waffles next to the coffee. If you are bringing friends or a pet, Match Better Cafe has board games, sockets and a pet-friendly setup. And if you would rather sit outside, Old Habit Cafe has an alfresco section across from St. Scholastica's Academy.

Why are there so few 24-hour cafes here?

Because most Marikina cafes are small, owner-run shops, and staffing a graveyard shift for a handful of customers is hard to justify. For a sense of what is normal, Candy Magazine's 2023 list of study-friendly cafes in Marikina printed the hours of five shops, and every one of them closed at 10 or 11 p.m. A shop that stays open until 2 a.m. is already doing something unusual for the city.

What actually stays open all night?

The places that never close tend to be convenience stores and some fast-food branches, not independent cafes. They are outside what this directory covers, so we do not track which branches run all night. If you only need caffeine and a table for an hour, they will do. If you need somewhere you can settle in properly, you are better off planning around the late shops above and getting there before midnight.

Should you study in a cafe at 2 a.m. at all?

Sometimes there is no choice, and we have all been there. Two things are worth knowing, though. In one controlled study, caffeine taken six hours before bed still cut total sleep by more than an hour, and people did not reliably notice the loss themselves. We go through it in our write-up of the caffeine and sleep research. And sleep is when your brain files away what you studied, so the all-nighter can cost you the very thing you stayed up for. Our guide to the best coffee for studying at night covers what to order and when to stop.

How do you confirm a shop is open before you go?

Check the shop's own Facebook or Instagram page on the day. Late hours are the first thing to change during rainy weeks, holidays and exam breaks, and small shops usually post it. Check weekday and weekend hours separately, since a few of these shops only run late on weekends. And if you are going out of your way, send a message. A one-line reply saves a wasted trip across town at midnight.

What should you plan for a late-night session?

Sort out your ride home before you order, since rides are harder to find after midnight. Bring cash, since not every shop takes cards or e-wallets. Charge everything before you leave. And pick a shop that fits the work: if you need Wi-Fi and a socket, start with our list of Marikina cafes with Wi-Fi and outlets.

What if you simply need more hours than a cafe can give?

Then move the hours rather than the venue. Go early instead. Weekday mornings are the quietest time in almost every Marikina cafe, and you get the same four hours with a clearer head.
